To Celebrate the City of Soap Lake’s Centennial, this Paddle Sport adventure course covers over 5.5 miles of paddling and 1 mile of portage. Yet it’s just a fraction of the distance covered in the historic ‘Great Canoe Race’ that finshed at Soap Lake. How do you hold up to the competitors of the past? Start training now or beat brawn with brains by collecting the puzzles along the way. Earn time discounts by solving them in under 60 minutes after crossing the finish line! Then revel in your accomplishment and befriend the competition at our Celebration Garden while we announce awards and share lore from the Great Canoe Race. Ski to Sea

Started in 1973, the Ski to Sea Race is a 93-mile multisport relay race from Mt. Baker to Bellingham Bay. A team consists of three to eight racers competing in seven sports: cross country skiing, downhill skiing/snowboarding, running, road biking, canoeing (two people), cyclocross biking and kayaking. Choose from 15 different divisions to compete in including free or discounted high school division. Finish Line Party and at scenic Marine Park in in conjunction with Historic Fairhaven Festival.

Final Rankings for Expedition Idaho

Just received this press release from Dave Adlard at the Expedition Idaho Adventure Race:

Sorry for any confusion! We want to clarify that our final ranking for awards and the rankings for Checkpoint Tracker and USARA use different sets of criteria.

For the CPT and USARA tracking, which goes by a set format for ranking, the final rankings for points would be as follows: (this is with all 4 person teams ranked ahead of three person, and all CPs being of equal value)

6) Team Florida Xtreme
7) NYARA
8) Gung Ho
9) Topo Adventure Sports

Also, we were missing a page of Team Florida Xtreme’s passport, and once we found it, and recalculated the final CPs, Florida Xtreme is ahead of NYARA in both sets of rankings. We apologize for the confusion, and both teams should be immensely proud of their achievements!

Last Chance For Early Bird Rate For NICHALLENGE

There’s still time to register for the area’s longest-running adventure race. It’s lots of fun and first-timers are welcome. Read this month’s cover story for more on racing. Here’s the details from North Idaho College:

We’re extending the early bird pricing for another week for the NICHALLENGE.
The new deadline to get the $70/person rate is 6/13/09. $80 after that until 6/22.
The race is Saturday, June 27th
3 – 5 miles of paddling
4 – 6 miles of trail running
15 – 20 miles of mt. biking
‘special challenges’
Should take an average athlete 4 – 6 hrs to complete
Team race: 2 person male, 2 person female, 2 person coed, 4 person male, 4 person female, 4 person coed. All team members complete the entire race.
Where: North Idaho Wilderness – Exact location will be announced 2 weeks prior to the race.
